Hello my lovelies!
Mixing prints can be challenging and exciting!
When mixing prints, be sure one common color repeats in each print.. For example, a Blackwatch plaid can be paired with a navy stripe, with the navy being the consistent colour.
A simple way to mix prints is to mix different plaids.. Plaids of all types can look great together. For example, try pairing a fitted plaid blazer over a plaid flannel
Combine looser prints with more structured prints, such as big swirls with thin stripes.
Blend larger prints with small ones.. For example, try gingham with a large floral pattern.
Pair two totally different patterns together for a surprisingly chic look.. Try pairing stripes with a floral pattern. Or pair graphic prints with soft, feminine prints to create a contrast.
To avoid a dizzying wall of pattern, mix warm tones such as reds, oranges and yellows with cool tones such as blues, greens and purples. Remember to keep one colour consistent throughout both patterns.
But the most important of all!
Trust your instinct!
